🧠 Weekly Mind Sweep #78 | What’s On My Mind | Intent

It’s been an interesting month discussing Intent! When you read the definition now, what comes up for you?

Intention

n.

1. a prior conscious decision to perform a behavior. In experiments, Intention is often equated with the goals defined by the task instructions.

2. more generally, any directedness in one's thoughts or behaviors, whether or not this involves conscious decision-making. —intentional adj.

  • Have you thought more deeply about how you speak to others?

  • Have you considered where your soul created your entrepreneurial spirit?

  • Did you understand why you might struggle to execute goals even though you intended to do them?

This month has allowed me the opportunity to consider these questions myself. And it’s such an honor to have you here with me, considering perspectives and asking phenomenal questions.

Thank you.

Let’s sweep the brain…

As an idea generator, I can get lost in the ideas, and spending time in that dopamine-heavy space can be thrilling. Often, I have to pinch [*1] myself to bring my mind back to the present moment and bathe in my gratitude for the life I live.

A dear friend and colleague often will say, “How lucky am I?”

But I think it’s more than luck. Luck implies that something somehow found me by chance. And while from time to time, that may be true, I believe the people, experiences, gifts, and lessons result from my intentional values, action, and holding the time and space for deeper reflection.

You make daily choices about how and with whom you spend your time. At the end of each day, you make choices with the aim of who and where you want to be.

That said, we also get lost in the constant flow of information thrown before our eyes, our families can disrupt us from the work we’d like to accomplish, and our energy level isn’t high every single day. [*2]

We are human.

It’s awareness that it’s happening, then choosing what to do next. That’s how we close the gap between intention and action.

But in between, there are lessons.

Lessons are in experiences. We can intend to go to that networking event with the expectation we’ll find our next client, discover a new network of business partners that can mention our names in a room of opportunity, or experience the most delicious passed appetizers. [*3] Too often, we leave empty-handed, frustrated, and hungry…even with good intentions.

Our expectations can lead to disappointment. Go easy on yourself. Our minds can’t help making up stories about how something will happen. The learnings come from the deeper reflection after.

  • Why did you think that event would be different?

  • Why did you meet someone who never asked you one question about who you are?

  • Why do you spend time going to these things anyway?

We’re change makers.

Because we know that what we bring to the world is meaningful, we’re entrepreneurs. The way we think changes things

We’re brave.

We’re brave enough to believe deep in our core that what we bring to the world will begin the ripple of change we want to see in the world.

We have intention.

We understand the life lessons that we can share with others. And not to keep them from making mistakes or errors but to help them feel seen, heard, and deeply understood.

What a fantastic opportunity we’ve received. To create something that doesn’t exist with the freedom to bring it to the world, live the life we want, and support others while doing it. I’m not dreaming.

I’m here changing the world. You are too.

My fascination with how the brain works, my life experience working in entrepreneurial environments, and the lessons my children have brought to my awareness have shaped who I am today.

My experiences have shaped me to support you, the whole you. Your business is just a part of who you are. Helping your business is just a part of what I offer.

I intend to support you in building a business you are proud of.

If you’re unsure what support can feel like, come camping with me. I promise there will be no wet tents, no creepy bugs, and since it’s online, there won’t be appetizers

BYOS! [*4]

It will be an experience!
