When I begin to think of a theme for the month, my first stop is the dictionary. I’m interested in learning how a word is defined, used, and understood. (I’m also a thesaurus fan, too!)

Noun: trust

  1. firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.

Verb: trust;

  1. believe in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of.

In my research on the topic of trust, I discovered two interesting frameworks for determining trust.

First is the Trust Equation. I was intrigued by the idea as someone interested in math and a left-brained approach. It’s one way to “calculate” trust. It talks about credibility, reliability, intimacy, and self-orientation.

You can quantify each factor and then do the math!

Wait, what? That seems so
cold and impersonal?

The creative in me then spent time searching for the feeling of trust.

Guess who I ran into?! Brene Brown!

She shares a story about her daughter experiencing mistrust at a young age and describes a marble analogy. In short, the smallest things we do with each other add a marble to a jar, and, over time, trust is born. She began her research into trust and created a BRAVING acronym to describe trust.

Ah, this is the feeling I was looking for!

The second framework is Boundaries. Reliability. Accountability. The Vault. Integrity. Non-judgement. Generosity.

I immediately sensed that this was our community when I read these words. It’s why we feel safe and comfortable and have a deep sense of trust in our Curated Conversations!

  • We respect each others’ boundaries

  • We reliably show up for each other

  • We take accountability if we are wrong

  • We know our words are safe

  • We come from a place of integrity

  • We talk without judgment

  • We show up in a generous way

Is there a bigger word for gratitude?

It’s an incredible honor to hold this space for phenomenal women to build trust in their lives and in their businesses.

Trust brings out the best qualities in people. Being trusted is a big motivator. Earning trust requires time, patience, vulnerability, action, and, my favorite word, consistency!

I’ve been dreaming about creating an IN-PERSON event for the spring with the Curated Conversation format.

A warm, inviting location, round-table discussion, lunch, and connecting with trusting, heart-centered women. Haven’t been to an 8am call? Join us!
