🧠Weekly Mind Sweep #89| Mind Your Business | Decision
Don’t miss two new collaborations at the bottom of this email!
Do you remember the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs? Here is a quick synopsis:
“When hard times hit Swallow Falls, its townspeople can only afford to eat sardines. Flint Lockwood, a failed inventor, thinks he has the answer to the town's crisis. He builds a machine that converts water into food and becomes a local hero when tasty treats fall from the sky like rain. But when the machine spins out of control and threatens to bury the whole world under giant mounds of food, Flint finds he may have bitten off more than he can chew.”
Like Flint, we are idea-generating machines! [*1] While I'd call this a phenomenal superpower to have, we tend to do one of two things:
We take an idea and RUN as fast as we can with it! (Then meatballs fall from the sky!)
We get stuck making a decision about which one to pick. (We eat sardines for life.)
Did you know not everyone wakes up with an entrepreneurial idea in their head?
Weird, right?
Our hearts have favorites that we keep coming back to. You know, the ones that you feel joy, excitement, and like your chest will burst if you don't let it out and scream it from the mountain tops!
Even though our hearts love them it doesn't mean it will be successful. Business can be fickle. The market still needs to want to buy it.
Our brains spend all day telling us how it won't work. It sees the nooks and crannies of our fears and is genuinely trying to keep you safe. Safe from embarrassment, failure, and that dreaded "mistake."
It's also true that our brain keeps us from putting profitable ideas out into the market so people can spend their green pieces of paper of appreciation. We "think" it won't work, so we don't do it.
Let’s sweep the brain…
Your brain is keeping you from being successful.
So what is an entrepreneur to do?!
When working with a plethora of ideas, we must first get them out of our heads and into a concrete, visible form. Schools have trained us to list them like outlines, but when we use this format, we dismiss things because of judgment. [*2] MindSweep Mapping gives you a safe space to let all the creative ideas out and then make cognitive connections that ultimately allow you to decide.
MindSweep Mapping allows your heart and brain to jump off the ledge with a creative idea safely.
Next, we take a step back and analyze the information. We use our past experiences and knowledge mixed with our unconscious awareness to review your map of possible solutions concretely.
MindSweep Mapping lets you decide the best thing to do right now.
Ultimately, you'll have a roadmap with directions leading to your destination! [*3]
Will there be scenic views? You're the boss, you decide!
Will there be detours? Heck yeah.
Will there be pit stops for celebration? Absofriggenlutely!
Will there be construction? Pfft, we live in America.
MindSweep Mapping will turn your "What idea do I bring to the world" challenge into a plan to execute.
For September, receive a discounted MindSweep Mapping Session [*4] when you join The Entreprenur's BrainTrust. We begin 10/02/2023.
There are three spaces left. One of them is yours!
Supporting entrepreneurs in pursuing profitable ideas
The Chickbook Creative Entrepreneurs Brain Trust is a membership-based community that creates a safe and inclusive space for entrepreneurs to cultivate new relationships, inspire personal and professional growth, and explore possibilities.
This has become a new space for my digressions.
[*1] Like Flint, as inventors and creators, we may find ourselves only able to afford sardines for dinner. It doesn't have to be that way.
[*2] We dismiss things from judgment because our brain keeps us safe.
[*3] Like Mapquest, but better!
