🧠 Weekly Mind Sweep #66 | Curated Conversation | Relationship

April 2023

*Week 66: Curated Conversation; Relationship

Week 67: Mind Your Business; Relationship

Week 68: Manage Your Mind; Relationship

Week 69: Contemplation; What’s on My Mind: My Thoughts on Relationship

New to the Weekly MindSweep? Past issues live here.

Well, April is coming in loud and clear. #CaptainObvious

My observations of conversations that I've had and the personal experience around the topic of RELATIONSHIP led me to decide that would be our topic for April's Curated Conversations.

My frequency illusion then lit on fire.

Relationship was now showing up in the several of the emails I received, conversations I was having with friends and colleagues, and the social media I scrolled. #Stalkers

Then, my fascination ignites.

I begin to lean into learning more, exploring the topic from several perspectives, and gaining a new awareness while having even deeper conversations. #MyHappyPlace #PWDC

You too? Phew, I'm glad you are here!

Now, let’s sweep the brain…

Let's begin with one of my favorite places, the dictionary.

re·la·tion·ship

noun

noun: relationship; plural noun: relationships

  • the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected, or the state of being connected.

  • the way in which two or more people or groups regard and behave toward each other.

Oh sure, Merriam Webster, nothing to unpack here.

Where do I end and others begin?

Let's start with our relationship with ourselves. For a healthy relationship to flourish, we need things for our health and well-being. We have individual comfort levels, past experiences, desires, and personal boundaries.

These needs are also valid for the humans you interact with.

For any relationship to work, you must love yourself first.

Now that you have learned to love yourself while reading my Weekly Mind Sweep, I'll invite you to the idea that there are three when coming together in a relationship.

  • YOU; loving yourself.

  • ME; loving myself.

  • US; both having the ability to look beyond self.

The “us” requires time, energy, and attention. Therefore, if you compromise yourself, you compromise the “us”.

With the goal of harmony, there will be a flow; a give and take. A lean in and lean back. We are not looking for power over but rather power with. Honest communication and mutual respect.

In conflict, we may find ourselves naturally going to a place of safety (fight or flight), and the communication becomes "you against me."

When we experience fear, we may feel challenged to hold space or "take on" the feeling. I invite you to utilize the power of the pause to recognize the charge and realign yourself to a "you and me vs. the problem" or team approach.

Be proactive in changing what needs changing. Recognize the difference between judgment and discernment. Listen to yourself and others from a human experience.

Stay tuned; we'll discuss Mind Your Business; Relationship for week No. 67.

Relationships ARE the core foundation of any business.

Focus on relationships and everything else will follow.

For the record, I love you!

How do you hold space for the relationships that matter to you?
