What’s Inspiring Me - Fawning: Why the Need to Please Makes Us Lose Ourselves

What I’m reading
Fawning Why the Need to Please Makes Us Lose Ourselves by Ingrid Clayton.
I’m inspired by the shift from performing for worth to living from inner alignment, where success, visibility, and money feel safe because they’re rooted in self-worth, agency, and self-compassion.
Recently, I found a lot of inspiration in Fawning by Dr. Ingrid Clayton.
Her work puts words to something many driven, heart-centered entrepreneurs feel: the idea that we have to earn our worth by performing, giving, doing too much, or keeping ourselves small. What stands out to me is her call to move from seeking approval to finding inner alignment, so we can handle success, visibility, and money without feeling unsafe.
She reminds us that growth is not about fixing ourselves or avoiding discomfort, but about asking, “Am I in danger, or is this simply discomfort?” and learning to stay present. Returning to self-worth, agency, and self-compassion in this way feels both bold and closely connected to the work I care about most.
