🧠 Weekly Mind Sweep #86 | What’s On My Mind | Compassion

August has been a powerful month. [*1]

When we step out of judgment and into empathy, we realize there are different perspectives to consider when building relationships and deepening our human connection with others.

Our brains naturally judge situations in an effort to keep us safe.

Noticing is the beginning step of a deeper awareness of change and growth. When we shift to curiosity and consider different perspectives on any given situation, we can access empathy for ourselves and others.

In life and business, we can ask ourselves:

  • Is my self-talk kind and supportive?

  • How would a friend or family member speak to me at this time?

  • Do I need to be heard, helped, or hugged?

We can consider others:

  • Is this person being unkind because of something I’ve done, or is it possible there is something I don’t know about?

  • Can I pause, step into their shoes, and view this from their perspective?

  • Can I ask them how they can feel supported?

From there, we can access the power of the pause, breathe and discern if there is a place to take meaningful action to support ourselves or others.

That is where we step into compassion; the action of empathy.

Compassion has everything to do with business.

We have several new tools for ourselves and our business around compassion in our toolbox:

  • NSR (Notice Shift Rewire)

  • Three H’s (Heard Helped Hugged)

  • Awareness that being compassionate to others begins with compassion for ourselves.

  • Compassion has a ripple effect. When we show kindness to someone else, it physically shifts our bodies and causes a chain reaction. Compassion is contagious.

How you show up matters.

As entrepreneurs, we need to care for our minds and bodies to bring our best capacity to our clients. Healthy boundaries will keep us from burnout. Self- Care allows us better clarity in our offerings.

Understanding your ideal customer and helping them with your products and services from a place of empathy and compassion will build their trust in you and encourage them to return to your business.

Bringing the spotlight to compassion within our community and for myself has brought a new awareness of the difference between empathy and compassion and why it matters.

Why does empathy and compassion matter to you and your business?

This has become a new space for my digressions.

[*1 ] Can you BELIEVE I do not have any digressions this week!?!
