Now, let’s sweep the brain…

When we begin to dig into these curated topics together, it becomes easier to spot them showing up in all facets of our life.

Are you also experiencing frequency illusion around relationships this month?

Together, we’ve gained awareness of how much this thread intertwines into our daily lives.

We have different flavors of relationships in our lives. Those we are intimately close to us in our homes, in our families, and in our day to day. Then, there is another layer that we come into contact with more often, like a colleague or our favorite barista at the local coffee shop. We might ask more personal questions, like how their new puppy is, while also insisting on seeing all the photos!

There are also new relationships that begin with the courage to walk up to someone and say, "Oh, hi!" (I will always be the one willing to step up to you in a crowded room)

I loved Lior's thought at Curated Conversation that our voice is part of our soul. I want to invite you to consider that our eyes are too. Technically, they are attached to our brains, making them an inner view of how we move about the world. And now, with my new glasses, I can see the world much more clearly!

When I return to where our conversation began in Week No. 66 and reconnect with the definition of relationship, "the way in which two or more people are connected," it hits my soul more deeply now.

Choosing to be in a relationship takes time, energy, and attention. The place where I end and you begin is where we stand together. You + Me = 3.

We must take meaningful action to care for ourselves, to care for others, and to care for the place in between

Then we progressed into our work relationships. When we step into our businesses and consider the consumer's perspective, we remember that if they feel like we are selling to them, they will not buy. All humans purchase what they value, and we cannot force someone to buy what we love if it's not a solution to what they need. We can also reevaluate our relationship with money and our intention behind what we offer and consider if we are willing to ask for the help we need.

We are wired to connect.

It's our human nature to want to be in a community and have a relationship with others. It benefits us all. We feel safer and connected, giving us a sense of belonging.

Here are 10 ways healthy relationships benefit our lives.

  • Improve communication skills

  • Show us how to work collaboratively

  • Build trust and respect

  • It teaches us how to make time for each other

  • It helps us live longer

  • It teaches us boundaries, kindness, and commitment

  • Lowers stress

  • Improves mental health

  • Requires Equal Effort

  • It provides us with a sense of purpose and community

Relationships have shaped the human brain into a social organ. So, if you feel like you are ready to be deep and weird and find your people:

  • Pick up the phone and give them a call. They will love hearing your voice, even in their voicemail.

  • Send a note in the mail thanking them for their time. They will open their mailbox and feel joy!

  • Invite that person you've been thinking of for a coffee (or to Curated Conversation!).' They will get to know you or us better and begin building a community.

Focus on relationships and everything will follow. Everyone will benefit.
