Now, let’s sweep the brain…

October = Community

com·mu·ni·ty /kəˈmyo͞onədē/

noun

1. a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.

2. a feeling of fellowship with others as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.

There is a fundamental difference between a network, an audience, and a community.

• Your network connects you to others. You meet someone who knows someone that might be able to support you in your efforts.

• An audience will listen to what you have said.

• A community will hear it. Feel it. Understand it. And actively participate in its intentions, values, and goals.

To me, the concept of community is holding space for women to listen to their needs, understand their feelings, and come together in a cohesive and powerful way to take action.

Especially when it comes to pushing against the norm.

This isn’t just about business; it’s about life choices and the less traditional path. It’s about values and intentions. It’s about supporting women and what that truly means.

Sometimes, doing things the way they’ve always been done can be valuable; until it isn’t. Until that moment when we learn something new, we wake up to opportunity, and we see that there is a better way to do something.

This is where my soul ignites.

I believe that action changes things, and when you have the gift of the opportunity to do that in a community, the charge behind it gains power.

Each day I am challenged to show up and evaluate where those opportunities are and take the first step. What I say and do sends a message. My actions and behaviors matter. Especially when I make a mistake. Not because of shame or guilt, but rather the chance to learn and grow alongside like-minded women.

Within a community, women can make powerful choices, take decisive action and change the world.
